Barton Hill Farms

I took my family to Barton Hill Farms last year and we cannot wait to go again. It is absolutely  beautiful & such a fun time for everyone! Here is a bit more information from Barton Hill Farms.

Barton Hill Farms is set amongst 100-year-old cottonwood trees, rolling grassy hills and the picturesque Colorado River. Our Fall Festival & Corn Maze is the perfect setting to let your kids enjoy true outdoor entertainment, including rides, games, a corn maze, pumpkin patch, local vendors and farm animals. We welcome large groups and school field trips.

When is The Fall Festival & Corn Maze open?

Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 27 - Nov.9. The hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How much is admission to The Fall Festival & Corn Maze?

General Admission is $8* per person for ages three to 10 and $11* for ages 11 and up, and includes entry to the corn maze and pumpkin patch. Children two and under are free but must accompanied by a paying adult. The Adventure Pass is a $5 upgrade and provides access to the jumping pillow, barrel train, pony hops, and trike track. Most kids enjoy the Adventure Pass, but adults can stick with General Admission and be fine. Some of our other activities cost extra. Please visit our activities page for more information.

Tips for saving at Schlitterbahn!

Its the hottest coolest time in Texas, right? Schlitterbahn is America's favorite water park, so I'm going to share a few things that I've learned to help make your visit more enjoyable, especially if you have young children!

  • Get there early and choose a shady spot to set up your "home base"(a place where everyone knows to meet). This is important if you have younger children. This spot will be familiar, so if anyone gets lost they will most likely return to this area.
  • LOTS of Sunscreen. Most of the time you don't feel yourself burning until after its already too late. Apply Sunscreen while your still at the car, that way you can head straight to the water!
  •  Bring a cooler. One of the best things about Schlitterbahn is that they allow you to bring in outside food & drinks(No Glass or Alcohol). Load the cooler up with waters so everyone can stay hydrated without breaking the bank!
  •  Wear watershoes or flip flops. Schlitterbahn is big, so walking on the hot ground is inevitable. You'll want to wear something that is ok to get wet and dries pretty quickly. Also, choose something that you'll be ok with losing. Shoes can get lost fairly easily.
Have fun and enjoy some savings below, just for being a Lifestyles of The Frugal Mom reader!!

Color Me Mine Review

Took my kids to Color Me Mine in Bee Caves, TX a few weeks ago and it was so fun!

We first picked out the piece we wanted to design, then the colors of paint we wanted to use. Our host then fetched the selected colors, filled out rinse cup and left us to start designing.

After many paint and rinse cup refills, we finished our pieces! We left our art on the table to dry and in the hands of the awesome employees of Color Me Mine to have them glazed, baked and ready for pick up.

3 days later, we picked up our pieces, and were more than pleased. They turned out wonderful! If you're looking for something fun to do with the kiddos or even by yourself, i highly suggest you give the folks at Color Me Mine a chance to make your day!!

Gattitown Review

Took my family to Gattitown in South Austin recently for my sons birthday and we had a blast!! They have updated all the games so my kids spent most of our time there discovering all there was to do!

The food was excellent. They kept the pizza table refilled at all times with fresh & hot pizza! I spent most of my time at the HUGE salad bar. The macaroni salad is to DIE for!!

Overall we had a blast and will be back soon for more awesome memories with my family!
